Greetings from sunny Belize,

My name is Arthur Westby. I was born on July 19th, 1977 in Belize, I was raised by my grandparents which had and still have a huge influence on my life. It was my granddad and my grandma as well as my parents who taught me the principles of life and human interaction. Especially to my granddad, which I call one of my best friends, I had a very close relationship with. I always looked up to him and I am very thankful for what I have learned from him.

Growing up in a former fishing village in the southern part of the Placencia Peninsula in Placencia Village. Ever since I was a little boy I was in contact with the ocean and nature in general. As kids, we learned how to live with the cycle of nature and I fall in love with the beautiful environment of my country.

Living In The United States

Spending a few years in the US, in Miami and New York showed me a different way of living and awakened my passion for traveling. When I was 18, I left Belize for work and travel in Central and South America.

During that time working on Tuna trawlers and on few Cruise Ships also as a Naturalist I gained much of my most valued working experiences and furthermore I had the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful remote dive sites in that area like Galapagos, Cocos Island, San Blas Islands, etc. …

Becoming A Scuba Diver

At the tender age of 14, I got the opportunity to become a scuba diver. Ever since then I started my career in scuba diving and teaching people how to do it.

Being underwater opens another world for me consisting of peacefulness, tranquillity, and weightlessness that gives me the space to open my mind for creativity and find solutions for challenges I am facing, or new ideas. Diving is my inspiration.

In the last few years, I got the opportunity to work for National Geographic part-time as a pilot for their cruise ship travel in Belize.
