Tour Description

Located in the beautiful foothills of the southern Maya Mountains of the Toledo District in Southern Belize. About an hour and half drive on the southern highway, you will have the choice of either the Nim Li Punit and/or Lubaantun Mayan ruins for your morning adventure.

Nim Li Punit: is sometimes known as Big Hat or Top Hat; the name is Kekchi Maya for "Big Hat and gets its name from a carving on the longest of the site’s 26 stelae. The longest stelae are carved with a figure wearing a large headdress and, at a length of 30 feet, is the longest discovered in Belize and one of the tallest in the Maya world. Nim Li Punit is situated in the foothills of the southern Maya Mountains.


Lubaantun: is known as "Place of the Fallen Stones" in Maya. This archaeological site is quite peculiar as the style of architecture is most district, and unusual, from other archaeological sites in Belize. Located in about two miles from the San Pedro Columbia Village.

After exploring the ancient ruins, we take a short drive to the nearby village of Indian Creek where you will have true taste of the Mayan cuisine and learn how to prepare their famous corn tortilla.
